Diane M. Shorts - Principal


Miss Diane Shorts has her Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision. She has been an educator in Worcester County for 20 years. Miss Shorts has been a principal at Showell Elementary for three years. She had been the Assistant Principal here for seven years. Miss Shorts enjoys coming to work everyday because of the family atmosphere that Showell Elementary presents. Showell has a wonderful faculty, staff, and especially students.

Mr. Hamborsky - Assistant Principal

Mr. Hamborsky began teaching in Pennsylvania after attaining his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from California University of PA. He moved to Worcester County Public Schools a few years later to teach fourth grade at Snow Hill Middle School. While in Snow Hill, Mr. Hamborsky was a fourth grade classroom teacher, a S.T.E.M./gifted and talented resource teacher and instructional coach. Mr. Hamborsky has led MESA, Robotics, and Science Olympiad. Also while in Snow Hill, Mr. completed a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University. Mr. Hamborsky is a passionate educator that works hard to enhance the experiences for Showell's students and staff.

Ed Reid - Guidance Counselor

Mr. Reid has been employed at Showell Elementary School since 1998. After completing ungraduate work at Randolph-Macon College, he worked in banking where he was put in charge of the Adopt-A-School program. Through this exerience he decided to pursue a graduate degree in Education at Virginia Commonwealth University. He was the 2003 Elementary Counselor of the Year for the state of Maryland. He resides in the town of Berlin with his family. Mr. Reid enjoys surfing, playing the drums, and spending time with family.

Sandy West - Curriculum Resource

Mrs. West has been teaching since 1977. Since that time, she earned her Master's Degree. She is married with three grown children that make her very proud. Mrs. West has been at Showell Elementary School since 1990. She taught second grade until 2003. In the fall of 2003, she began as Curriculum Resource at Showell Elementary School. Mrs. West lives at South Point and enjoys outdoor activities such as gardening, walking, bike riding, and going to the Boathouse.
