Showell Elementary is a Pre-K through 3rd grade school located in a beautiful rural setting between the towns of Showell and scenic Ocean Pines. We are just a stone's throw away from the magnificent beaches of Ocean City. Our facility offers a spacious media center, a beautiful and educational nature trail, an interactive playground, two computer labs, high-speed wireless internet, and a variety of technologies to enhance student learning.

Our facility employs full-time art, English-language learner, speech, early intervention, music, and physical and special education teachers. We have a curriculum resource teacher, a full-time nurse, and an outstanding maintenance staff. Our enthusiastic staff is dedicated to providing the highest quality of teaching and learning. Each and every student has specific learning needs that we strive to meet. Showell has a strong PTA and many active, generous community organizations that provide financial and educational support.

SES Celebrates 100 Days of Learning!

Showell Elementary School students and staff celebrated the 100th Day of School on Friday, February 16th. The students and staff participated in the following activities to commemorate the day:
  • The daily moment of silence lasted for 100 seconds.
  • Students received 100th Day stickers to wear on their shirts.
  • During announcements, selected students lead a school wide 100th Day sing along.
  • Students with perfect attendance for the first 100 days of school received an attendance award certificate.
  • We had a spirit day. Students wore their Showell t-shirts or red, white, and blue.
The 100th day is also when we combine all the pennies that all classes have been collected and used in lessons. Students counted pennies, predicted how many are in a jar, estimated and organized pennies into sets of ten and counted by 10s. We teach community giving as we donate all those pennies to a local children's charity. Our donation typically hovers around $500. This year we chose the Make A Wish Foundation to receive our donation. Click below to see a  YouTube video about the work of the Make a Wish Foundation.

Jump Rope for Heart was a fun time taking care of our bodies by just jumping. We also helped take care of sick hearts by raising $13,207 for the American Heart Association. Learning to take care of ourselves so we can help others is a lesson we teach our students at Showell Elementary School. Thanks to Mrs. Brabitz and Mr. Bleinberger for hosting this energizing event. Thanks to all the people who generously donated to our cause.
