Library/Media Center

Are you looking for a book or an online database for research?

To find a book, search the your school library's catalog from home or catalog from school.

For online research, be sure to browse our county's kid-friendly database, WebPath Express. To find WebPath Express, choose the home or school link above. You'll automatically see the "Home" tab. Next, choose the "Catalog" tab, then look for WebPath Express on the left side of the screen. Search on WebPath Express just like you would any search engine online. While you may find fewer results than searching on Google, the results are student-friendly, useful, and free of advertisements. Therefore, you have fewer results to weed through and can get right to the good stuff - learning about what interests you while working in a safe environment!

Worcester County Public Libraries is also a great resource. Students can get a county library card and access a variety of materials. Students may use their Worcester County Library barcode number here at school to access the county library subscription to digital books online.

Our Routine
Students visit the school library once per week. Students routinely take books home on library day, then return the books one week later. If a family prefers to return the book(s) sooner, your child is welcome to put items in the return box at an earlier date. Students may renew books by bringing them on their library day and asking to renew it. We do not charge late fees; however, returning or renewing books on time is encouraged and valued.

Students, K-3, collect dots on their cards each week they return or renew materials on time. Dots can be exchanged for more library privileges such as borrowing an extra book, borrowing a stuffed animal character, or borrowing a game.

Students from 1st grade and up understand call numbers. Please encourage your child to apply their knowledge of call numbers at public libraries each summer. What they learned in school is the same in the real world.

Inventory is completed each spring. With over 10,000 books in our collection, inventory is an important step and will confirm which titles have been returned. Students are never charged late fees, only lost or damaged fees will be issued. Parents are welcome to call or send notes to Mrs. McCabe anytime. She is happy to help answer any questions you may have.

Volunteers are a valued part of our school library. Our volunteer team helped re-label and shelve over 2,500 books and tidied shelves to help students find materials. Our school offers a volunteer orientation each fall. Please note that we are always in need of gently used games to increase our current selection.

After-Hours
The media center will be open during Teacher-Conference nights. Students must be accompanied by an adult when visiting after regular school hours. Any parent who stops by the media center during conference nights may pick up an Extra Book Checkout coupon to take home to their child(ren). Library accounts must be in good standing to apply the coupon.

Text features in action! Kindergarten knows how to create speech bubbles
to represent what the animals are thinking!
